Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Title: Pineapple Express
Starring: Seth Rogan, James Franco, Danny R. McBride, Gary Cole
Director: David Gordon Green
Rating: 18 / R
Release Date: 12 September (UK)

Synopsis: Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton (Rogan) has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver (Franco): to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city’s most dangerous drug lord (Cole), he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him–and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they’re not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

Movie news & general awesomeness

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

TDK takes $400m in 18 daysThere’s been a fair few things going on movie-wise recently – The Dark Knight has broken record after record and taken $400 Million in 18 days, Arnie seems perplexed, and not impressed by initial Terminator Salvation footage, as well as seeing rumours of The Lost Boys 3 & The Goonies 2.

This year has been a good year for movies so far, what with comicbook awesomeness including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Wanted, The Dark Knight & Hellboy II: The Golden Army – I really think my Cineworld Unlimited card has taken a battering, and will continue to do so with forthcoming titles like The Watchmen and The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Movies, movies movies…

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Ok I thought I’d give everyone a brief rundown of the movies I’ve seen recently, be them old or new, but for sake of relevance, I’ll start with the new releases I’ve watched.

Wanted

This movie is… for lack of a better word… batshit insane – but in a great way. Read my full review over at geeksofdoom.com here.

Kung Fu Panda

Another great movie, with some good voice talent from Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie and Ian McShane. I’d highly recommend this to adults and kids alike. :)

Want to see Kevin Smith’s Wii?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

I know, I know…. sounds like a dodgy question, huh? ;)

Clerks writer & director Kevin Smith got this Christmas’ must-have gift this year, but he did it so much better than everyone else. Designer Ramon Stokes was hired to create a custom Wii – and putting no less than 60 hours of work into it!

Kevin Smith's custom Wii

Here’s what Stokes said on his official blog:

“The Wii was painted using flat gray scale colors to match the black and white clerks characters. The stand features the main characters each back-lit with two “stage lights” that beam up to highlight the custom 3D Clerks logo. The opposite side has a specially back-lit logo of his production company. Finally, the controllers were painstakingly hand painted letter by letter to feature his name one controller and his most famous alter ego on the second. As a most respectful nod to his writing, the font was meant to look like one an old typewriter might use.

For a little more information, more images, and information on other projects like the Rock Star Wii, God of War PSP, check out Ramon Stokes blog.
