Ever since I heard of Google Friend Connect (around about the same time I heard about Facebook Connect) I was extremely interested in the idea. I’ve always somewhat of a social media whore, so this little idea from Google sounded promising. On top of that, I’ve been a strong advocator of Google for a long time, despite their megalomaniacal approach to all things intermaweb-related.
Anyway, after reading an update on Mashable about Facebook Connect, I today found myself the proud recipient of a whitelist email from Google, advising me I’d been approved to use the new Friend Connect service on my site.
Having a couple of websites (along with this site, I own and maintain Toadpink.com and Hybrid-Gamers.com), I think I’ll be adding this service to all three.
As you can see on the sidebar to the right, the service allows you to log into the site using your google ID, and there are a load of features available to you – the basic option allows you to track what you do on the site. Other features include:
A Facebook-esque Wall (which I’m working out how to add without cluttering up the place)

A rate/review gadget, an open social demonstration and a couple more features that aren’t ironed out yet.

I’m liking what I see so far, so I think I’m going to add at least the Wall and review widget… like I said, just need to sort out the how. ><
Anyway
