There’s been a fair few things going on movie-wise recently – The Dark Knight has broken record after record and taken $400 Million in 18 days, Arnie seems perplexed, and not impressed by initial Terminator Salvation footage, as well as seeing rumours of The Lost Boys 3 & The Goonies 2.
This year has been a good year for movies so far, what with comicbook awesomeness including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Wanted, The Dark Knight & Hellboy II: The Golden Army – I really think my Cineworld Unlimited card has taken a battering, and will continue to do so with forthcoming titles like The Watchmen and The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Some other recent news has made me particularly happy – one of my all-time favorite directors Kevin Smith has won his appeal against the MPAA to give Zack & Miri Make A Porno an R rating. Zack & Miri opens on 31st October, and I can’t wait. I’ve been a strong advocate of Smith’s work since I saw Dogma (which is still on of my favorite movies).
While we’re on the topic of Kevin Smith, remember his cameo in 2003 adaptation of Daredevil that bombed? Well, there’s talk of a “reboot” of Matt Murdoch’s superhero escapades… but its unclear as to whether it’ll be in the form of a movie, or TV series. Either way, Frank Miller has backed none other than Crank star Jason Statham to play the lead role – and I’m not sure I agree to be honest… I don’t think that Ben Affleck did a bad job in the first movie, I just thought the script was weak in places, and Elektra was a generally weak character (she needed to be morepsychotic a la Miller’s comics).
Ok I’m starting to ramble, so I thought I’d finish off this blog with a little bit of awesomeness, coming in the form of something Dark Knight related (sorry! I know I’ve blogged a fair bit about the movie, and I’m trying not to… but this was too good to pass up!).
If you head over to a site called Jalopnik, you’ll be able to read the story of Bob Dullam who has single-handedly built The Dark Knight’s Tumbler from scratch.
Here’s a couple of pics for you to drool over, and before you ask, he’s not selling it!
No, not building this to sell. You wouldn’t want to sell this if you had one, believe me. It’s a once in a lifetime project.
