As I posted a while back now, one of my new favorite websites is Plurk – a Twitter-style site with a more community feel behind it.

Well about a week ago, the A-Team added a new feature for the CSS Customization of your Plurk timeline (a bit like Virb and Myspace), to some mixed reactions. Thankfully, you only need to view other people’s themes if you visit their timeline page, so if there are some particularly gaudy themes (like a lot of the epilepsy-inducing myspace themes that have the sole purpose of scorching your retinas) you needn’t see them.
In order to add some CSS customisation, you need to have hit the Karma level of 25… then you click on the edit profile link, and the Customization link. There is a helpful how-to page, but the information given is a little limited. Thankfully Plurk user & Graphic Designer extroadinaire ZenElements has created a PLURK:CSS blog post which is an awesome resource for the CSS beginner.
I’ve created a few simple themes for myself and my girlfriend Smoo, featuring the Invader Zim favorite character Gir, A Battlestar Galactica Cylon as well as an abstract blood-red theme too. Here’s what they look like, and if you’re a plurk user, the links underneath each theme should apply that theme to your timeline. :) If you’d rather add the CSS yourself, I’ve added that too. :)
Enjoy! And please comment if you use one of the themes… if they go down well I’ll do a few more. :)
